Tuy Phong district to focus on developing seafood industry

(binhthuan.gov.vn) Tuy Phong District People's Committee has directed agencies, units and localities to carry out the tasks of combating IUU fishing in association with the implementation of the plan on rearranging and restructuring the fisheries in the district for the period of 2019 - 2020 and to 2025.

Accordingly, in 2022, there is 07 more fishing vessels with a length of 15 meters or more installed cruise monitoring equipment in the district, bringing the total number of installed fishing vessels to 247/259, reaching 95.37%; fishing vessels and fishermen in the district do not violate foreign waters for illegal fishing. Activities of the Solidarity Group are maintained; up to now, the whole district has 61 solidarity groups/366 vessels. The model of linking production and consumption of squid products in Lien Huong town continues to be maintained. The district's fishing output in the first 10 months of the year reached 52,599 tons, reaching 95.63% of the assigned target, reaching 98.42% of the same period in 2021; It is estimated that by the end of 2022, the output will reach 57,300 tons, reaching 104.18% of the assigned target and 100.46% of the same period in 2021.

In the coming time, Tuy Phong District People's Committee will continue to direct agencies, units and coastal communes to restructure the seafood production industry in the direction of increasing the proportion of aquaculture output, reducing the proportion of fishing output. Continuing to implement synchronously and effectively solutions to prevent fishermen from illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing).
