Traffic safety enhancement and traffic accident prevention

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong has just
promulgated an official letter requesting the heads of relevant departments and
agencies; Chairpersons of People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to
strengthen traffic safety assurance and prevention of traffic accidents caused
by community activities of people using the roadbeds, roadsides and sidewalks
on the streets in the province.
Accordingly, the
People's Committees of districts, towns and cities shall promote propaganda and
dissemination of legal regulations on road traffic order and safety; request
organizations and individuals not to use arbitrarily sidewalks and roadways in
contravention of regulations to organize activities not for traffic purposes;
At the same time, develop plans to build community living areas to serve the
needs of local people, such as funerals, weddings, engagements, festivals... In
the case of these events, it is necessary to obtain permission from the
competent authorities with plan for organization of traffic order and safety.
Chairpersons of People's Committees of districts, towns and cities are
responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of if there is
any violation of the provisions of law on the use of roadways, sidewalks, etc. that
does not ensure traffic safety, leading to traffic accidents in their
localities.
The Department of
Transport shall chair over and coordinate with the Provincial Public Security,
People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, functional units of the
Vietnam Road Administration and relevant units to strengthen inspection and
supervision to prevent and strictly handle violations of the law on illegal use
of roadways, roadsides and sidewalks.
