The area planted with short-term crops in the province exceeded the plan for 2022

(binhthuan.gov.vn) According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, from the beginning of 2022, the province's agricultural production has had advantages in terms of weather conditions and water sources, so farmers have sown seeds according to the seasonal schedule.

Up to now, the province has planted short-term crops of 201,660 hectares, exceeding by 4.4% compared to the set plan and 100.5% compared to 2021; for rice, the cultivated area is estimated at 122,840 ha, reaching 101.9% of the plan, 99.4% compared to 2021; corn planting area is estimated at 14,800 ha, reaching 105% of the plan and 96.5% compared to 2021.

It is expected that the total food production in the province in 2022 is estimated at 833,840 tons, reaching 104.2% of the plan and 99.2% compared to 2021. In which, rice production is estimated at 736,280 tons, reaching 104.9% of the plan and equal to 99.8% compared to 2021; corn production is estimated at 97,560 tons, reaching 99.6% of the plan and 94.7% compared to 2021.

From the beginning of 2022 until now, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with localities to grant certificates of VietGAP standards for 11,900 hectares of dragon fruit, achieving 100% of the plan, accounting for 39.9% of the total area of dragon fruit of the province.
