Strengthening avian flu prevention

the afternoon of October 27, 2022, the Binh Thuan Department of Health
requested hospitals and district health centers to strengthen the prevention
and control of avian flu.
Specifically, the
Department of Health requires units to strengthen surveillance to detect early
cases of severe pneumonia caused by the virus; investigation of suspected cases
of avian influenza; thoroughly handle the outbreak as soon as it is detected;
ready to collect, isolate and treat according to regulations. The units review
and prepare drugs, supplies, chemicals and support means in time for the
locality to implement handling measures when an outbreak of human influenza
occurs in the locality. At the same time, coordinate with veterinary agencies
and local authorities in monitoring avian influenza and coordinate with the
agricultural sector in the prevention and control of diseases transmitted from
animals to humans according to regulations. Strengthening communication of
measures to prevent avian influenza infection from spreading to humans in areas
with sick and dead poultry and high-risk areas.
According to the Department
of Animal Health - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, from the beginning
of the year, the influenza epidemics in poultry are still recorded scatteredly
in many localities across the country. In the coming time, during the Lunar New
Year and festive seasons, the total number of poultry flocks and the transport
and trade of poultry may increase. Besides, the weather currently in the period
of changing season and abnormal changes is favorable for avian influenza virus.
Therefore, there is always a potential risk of avian influenza transmission to
humans./.
