Phu Quy recorded 579 cases of dengue fever

the past 2 years, Phu Quy has not had any dengue fever cases. However, Phu Quy
recorded hundreds of cases of dengue fever in the last 4 months.
From mid-June 2022 up
to now, Phu Quy has recorded 579 cases of dengue fever, of which there are 21
severe cases. The number of cases appeared in 03 communes including Tam Thanh
126 cases, Long Hai 348 cases and Ngu Phung 105 cases. In which, Long Hai
commune has the highest number of cases in the district, accounting for 60.1%
of the total. This commune also accounts for 76.2% of the total number of
severe cases of the whole district.
Doctor Duong Tin Phuc
- Director of Phu Quy Military and People Medical Center stated: In the past 2
years, Phu Quy has not had any dengue fever cases. The case began to appear
around mid-June 2022 up to now, that is, hundreds of dengue cases were recorded
in about 4.5 months. The reason is that this year's weather has been raining
for a long time, standing water in objects around people's houses, creating
favorable conditions for mosquitoes to develop. Besides, people do not have the
habit of sleeping under mosquito nets. Severe cases of dengue are caused by
patients self-treating at home. When shown up at the medical center, the
patient was in shock or hemorrhagic.
Doctor Phuc
recommended that when there are signs of high fever, people in Phu Quy island
district need to immediately go to Phu Quy Medical Center for medical
examination and treatment if they are detected with dengue fever to avoid shock
and worsening. The Center is fully equipped with medicines, equipment and
medical personnel to successfully treat severe cases of dengue fever. At the same
time, people have to sleep under mosquito nets, use anti-mosquito cream, clean
around the house to avoid standing water, so mosquitoes cannot reproduce./.
