Bac Binh to be recognized for leprosy elimination

Binh Thuan Department of Health and Bac Binh District People's Committee held a
summary conference on the recognition of leprosy elimination at district level
in Bac Binh in 2022.
After nearly 30 years
of prevention and control activities, Bac Binh has achieved the criteria to
eliminate leprosy at district level according to the standards of the Ministry
of Health. Specifically, in the last 3 years (2020 - 2022), the prevalence of
leprosy in the district has always been below 0.2/10,000 population. 100% of
patients receive disability care, integrate into the community and 100% of
patients with severe disability of type 02 have housing.
Through the actual
inspection in 10 communes and towns of Bac Binh, the provincial leprosy
examination and elimination council evaluated the score of 290/290 points,
ranking excellent. The whole district is managing 52 leprosy patients; in
which, treating 02 patients, monitoring 08 patients and 42 patients completing
supervision, receiving disability care.
On this occasion, the
District People's Committee praised and rewarded 03 collectives and 03
individuals with good achievements in the district's leprosy prevention and
control./.
