Binh Thuan to focus on protection of surface and ground water

As of October 2022, the whole province has 54 works on exploiting and using
water resources licensed by the Provincial People's Committee for organizations
and individuals to use concentrated water supply with the largest total
exploitation volume of about 81,000 m3/day. In which, there are 25 works of
surface water exploitation with a total flow of 66,790 m3/day; 29 works of ground
water exploitation with a total flow of 14,2100 m3/day.
In the past time, the
Provincial People's Committee has directed the relevant departments and agencies
to inspect, supervise and request the project owners to monitor the water
level, flow and quality at the water source exploitation works on surface and
underground. At the same time, requesting the project owners to protect the
water sources they directly exploit, use and monitor and supervise activities
in the sanitary protection zone of the water intake area; in case of detecting
acts of polluting or potentially polluting, failing to ensure the safety of
water exploitation and other violations of the law on water resources within
the area's sanitary protection zone, they must promptly prevent and immediately
report to the nearest local authority for handling.
At the same time,
implementing plan to establish water source protection corridors at reservoirs,
rivers and streams, etc., and installing cameras in reservoir works to both
protect the safety of the reservoir and protect the water source. Coordinating
with local authorities in propagating and mobilizing people not to encroach the
protection corridor of the works, not to encroach water sources for daily life.
Preventing and sanctioning acts of infringing upon works according to the
provisions of law.
