Strengthening the protection of wild and migratory birds

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong has just
signed and promulgated an official document requesting the Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development; the People's Committees of districts, towns
and cities to strictly follow the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and
Rural Development on strengthening the protection of wild and migratory birds.
Accordingly, the
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shall chair over and coordinate
with relevant departments and agencies, and the People's Committees of
districts, towns and cities in directing relevant units to increase patrolling
and control of key areas on hunting, catching, trading and consuming wild and
migratory birds to promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle acts of
illegally hunting, catching, trapping, slaughtering, transporting, trading,
processing and storing wild and migratory birds; organizing the destruction of
illegal trading places of wild and migratory birds in the province.
Simultaneously, to step
up the propaganda and mobilization of people not to illegally hunt, catch,
trap, buy, sell, transport, trade, store, consume wild and migratory birds; to proactively
denounce violators of the law on management and protection of wild and
migratory birds. To deploy and guide food service and pet food establishments
in the province to sign a commitment not to buy, sell, display or advertise
wild animal specimens without lawful origin; to strictly handle individuals and
business establishments violating regulations.
The veterinary
agencies and related agencies shall strengthen monitoring to timely detect and
handle diseases and epidemics originating from wild and migratory birds that
are at risk of spreading and affecting human health, livestock, and poultry.
